Yo! We Going Retro!!!!

Yo! We Going Retro!!!!

This past week, I slipped into an old pattern that I thought I had overcome and paid the price. Several of my clients also slipped backward this week. It was like The Universe was sending lessons, a final reminder to not look back and to continue to move forward no matter how comfortable the old ways may have been in the past, they are now NOT working! And, then I looked at the calendar and guess what happened yesterday?! Mercury went retro! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are in another retrograde, but you may have already been feeling the pre-phases of it like us. The pre-shadow began two weeks ago. I’ve been enjoying taking out more time to take care of myself and enjoy my family and friends. Then, last week, my husband was away, and I used this as an excuse to fall back into my old pattern and overbook myself. I was exhausted, had no time to work out or tidy my apt. My back and neck seized up, and I got really short tempered with my well-meaning brother on the phone one night. My body and temper were telling me, “Enough of this already, I just don’t want to live this way anymore! Don’t go backward!” The contrast between where I have been of late, more satisfied with better work/life balance and where I was a year ago, in overwork mode, was too dramatic. This was a warning not to go back and to take the time to make choices that support how I want to live in greater balance now. If you have been feeling some old, outgrown feeling or pattern come up of late, you are not alone, and it could be The Universe’s way of nudging you forward. Mercury is Retrograde August 13-Sept 5th with the post shadow lasting through Sept 19th. So, the way I see it, you/ we have approximately five weeks to utilize this powerful time to shed old patterns and upgrade your experience of your life. Be aware of what you are feeling during this time, and ask yourself what your body or life circumstances are trying to tell you- Are your actions and choices in alignment with what you really want? Check in, and make sure your body feels good with your choices with no constriction of your throat or gut. If your throat feels tight, this may be your body’s way of telling you that you may not be expressing something important. If your stomach or gut is constricted, you may not be honoring something you want by making this decision. See if you can connect your head with your body and your heart and be more conscious of just what you are choosing for yourself and your future in each moment. Because you can have more of what you want in your life, you just need to stay focused on having it;) Cheers to having a life you love! Lara...

Holy Allergies! How to Better Control the 4 Factors that Affect Your Health, Energy and and Well Being

Holy Allergies! How to Better Control the 4 Factors that Affect Your Health, Energy and and Well Being

I was so tired a week ago. It was super humid in NY, and I felt totally wiped out, and the cough I had from my pollen allergy was activated again!!!! Ugh!  I thought I had beat it. I had been taking my supplements, and it had gotten better, virtually disappeared, so what happened? And, why are some of my clients suffering from allergies and others, not at all? Some of it is predisposition, and some of it is the cumulation of many different stress factors. See, what I didn’t tell you is that I moved apartments the weekend before. We moved to an apt with a better lay out and view in our building, a great move, but a move non-the-less. Despite the fact that we hired movers,  it was complete with lots of bending over, lifting things, inhaling dust, eating fast food and the emotional stress of feeling unsettled and not knowing where anything was for a few days. Allergies, just like viruses, tend to affect you more If your body is already taxed by unperceived stressors. You just get more watery eyes or an itchy throat like me, or if you were exposed to a virus, a cold if your body’s resistance is down. And, your body’s resistance might be down because you were just living your life a bit too intensely. You may not connect the fact that your body was tired because it was trying to heal after you went all out in a boxing class and were sore afterward, then ate pesticides on the salad you had out with a friend, got some stressful news at work and had trouble getting to sleep. These are all natural things that happen in your modern day life, and if your body encountered just one of those stressors, your immune system could probably have beat the cold or not had as intense of an allergic reaction, but the combo had your body working overtime and weakened your defense. How much mechanical, chemical, environmental and emotional stress you encounter and how your body handles it determines whether you feel itchy, tired or get sick. If I had rested more and put off some of the unpacking, I probably wouldn’t have felt so wiped. In your modern day life,  mechanical stress generally comes in the form of activity that is outside of your normal scope, like my unpacking. When you do an activity you are not used to doing, if you do it for too long a period or too vigorously you can make yourself sore and injure tissue. If you are sore after exercise, you have actually injured tissue and started an immune response.  You have created tiny little tears in your muscles, which your body has to take energy and time to heal.  So it is important to exercise at a pace, and an intensity your body can handle.  You know you have done too much if you feel tired or sore after your workout. Eating chemicals like pesticides on veggies, hormones in meats and mercury in fish taxes your digestive and immune systems because it takes extra energy for your body to remove those toxins from your system. The food we ordered in probably had a combo of all these. And, emotional stress puts you...

Bam! I Was Hit By The Boomerang Effect!

Bam! I Was Hit By The Boomerang Effect!

I have been so relaxed, then these waves of anxiety got me last week accompanied by really dramatic and unrealistic fears that did not make sense. It was so strange. I was perplexed. Then, I found a letter I had written to myself last summer at Soul Camp. Each year, they have you write a letter to yourself and share some wisdom you gained there and don’t want to forget. My letter was urging me to take the time to receive the goodnesses in life more and to do more of the things that fill me up, like the yoga, massages and connecting with quality friends that I soooo enjoyed doing at Soul Camp. I was touched to tears reading this because I have been following those directives and carving out space to take better care of myself, that is why I think I felt this crazy anxiety! Bam! Boomerang Effect! It was like my central nervous system’s knee jerk reaction, saying, “Wait! Are you sure it’s totally safe to relax and to enjoy yourself so much? Shouldn’t you be watching to make sure the other shoe doesn’t drop?” Boy do subconscious patterns die hard! So I did an energy session (I do practice what I preach), and I realized this was just an old pattern that needed some retraining. Got my chakras cleared of this old energy and held my neuro- vascular points on my head as I repeated what I really believe, but just had to tutor my subconscious to get— “I can trust I am being guided and flowing into the next best actions.”     All my moves and big decisions have been guided; there have been undeniable signs; now I just need to relax and to trust. So, it was synchronistic that I had dinner plans scheduled with the Soul Camp Creators, Ali and Michelle! It was another sign to continue to follow my own advice from my Soul Camp letter a year before…. To not let my irrational fears and old patterns derail me from fulfillment. To make filling up my cup by hanging around supportive, loving people like these soul sisters a priority. And to continue to listen to my Highest Self’s Wisdom;) Check out the giddy Livestream we did after dinner here! And click here to find out more about the magic of Soul Camp! Join us at Soul Camp East or West, I’ll be at both, if you want to take some time to connect with yourself and to make some Soul centered connections;) So much love and...

The Decadent Gift I Gave Myself

The Decadent Gift I Gave Myself

Today is my birthday! And to celebrate it, I want to share a story with you that I hope will inspire you to live your passion!   Over the winter my husband and I got into this Netflix series called The Chef’s Table.   This series is incredibly inspiring, as it gets into the head and heart of pure genius, the small number of chefs who have received three Michelin Stars.   These are the Mozart’s of cooking. One might think these chefs mad, as they are driven by their soul’s passion for food and the all-encompassing pursuit of perfection. They live and breathe their art, spending all their time sourcing the best ingredients and working tirelessly to create new cooking methods or dishes in the kitchen.   I find their passion inspiringly intoxicating. One episode that actually made me giddy was one about Grant Achatz, and his restaurant, Alinea in Chicago.   His story is nothing short of inspiring and his food, what I would call, multi- sensory art.   After Grant was diagnosed with a chef’s worst nightmare, cancer of the mouth, he was told by the first doctor that he would need to remove his tongue. He was ready to die. That is like telling a prima ballerina that she needs to give up a leg or like clipping the wings of an eagle. Food is Grant’s first love and his life; he didn’t want to live if he couldn’t taste.   He was blessed when the next doctor he saw knew his cooking and understood what was at stake. He designed a treatment program that would fight the cancer with radiation, so Grant had a shot at keeping his most precious sense.   Despite the fatigue created by his aggressive treatments, he worked every day in the restaurant because he was energized and fueled by his work. Today he is cancer free, a testament to the energetic power of doing what you love;) And oh how I loved watching not only the creation of each dish but the performance of each course. It left me, as I said, giddy. Alinea is like no other food experience I have ever had. Each course plays with all your senses. Each is visually stunning with flavors, temperatures, and textures artfully combined to amaze your palate, while your sense of smell is excited by smoke or steam that takes the experience to an entirely other level.   It’s food performance at it’s finest.   I love food, but I also think the reason I am so turned on by these chefs is that I am driven by something similar.   My secret obsession and I admit, addiction, is helping you find the, “Ah ha!” behind your pain or upset. It inspires me to no end when you light up after we discover what your body or emotions are trying to tell you.    My “high” comes when you leave me feeling elated and inspired by your own resiliency, desires, and belief in yourself!   I love my job so much, like Grant, I could work non-stop. And, I actually did that, until I felt like I was missing out on other aspects of life because my sweet husband was telling me he missed me:(    So this year, my Vision...

I want to celebrate something!

I want to celebrate something!

YOU!!!!!!! You are most likely a great friend, having compassion and doing your best to cheer your friends up when something goes wrong, right? You most likely try your best to treat your family with kindness and consideration (OK, most of the time, LOL) You are a caring person, maybe even inspiring. Happy to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of others, but… What about yourself???? Summer is here, and it’s time to recognize and to celebrate YOU—all of your accomplishments, your personal and professional growth, and everything you love about your life! While the spiritual/emotional capacity of Spring is the power of growth, Summer holds the power of maturity.  In summer, the buds of spring bloom into full flowers and now can share their pollen to make more flowers. Recognizing and celebrating all you have accomplished is the way you expand your capacity, inner abundance and self-sufficiency. The same way a good summer harvest can supply food for the winter months, celebrating your achievements gives you the confidence to connect with others and the hope and faith to carry you through all of the ups and downs of success. Let’s take an inventory of all your good stuff, so you have a good supply for Winter!!!! Hit reply RIGHT NOW and share with me a few things you can celebrate about your year to date and yourself! And, for extra credit/growth, ask someone else the same question! Looking at life from this place makes everything brighter, easier and more fun! Much love and expansion, Lara Oh just Do It! LOL! You don’t need to have a “perfect life” to be happy. You don’t need a “perfect body” to feel good about yourself or how you look in your clothes. You don’t need to BE PERFECT to have a fun and fulfilling life! Come on!!!!! Reply to me now!!! What do you love about your life this year? What do you appreciate about how you have grown this past year? For what are you proud????? I can’t wait to hear from you!!!!! Your future’s so bright; you need...

Calm Before You Carry On

Calm Before You Carry On

Back from my vacation in Italy and noticing, as my week progressed, my calm vacation attitude was being challenged. Nothing bad or stressful had happened. I just had lots to do, managing my client schedule plus three other projects. In our busy lives with so much to keep track of and to manage, your central nervous system can get overwhelmed. And in busy cities, like New York, your central nervous system is already being bombarded with noise bouncing off the metal buildings, electromagnetic frequencies from cell towers and people in your space all the time. Just the normal everyday stimuli can be stressful and coupled with any extra pressure, downright overwhelming. The 30-second exercise in my blog has been helping me calm my central nervous system and return to a state of relaxation. It’s helped me return to calm so that I can carry on with more ease and grace;) Cheers to peace 😉...

The Joys of Italy!!

The Joys of Italy!!

The Joys of Italy!!   Well, of course, the food!!!   It’s so fresh.  The farming practices have been passed down from generations which give them a commitment to growing the best natural food.  Most farmers are non-GMO.   You can taste the unadulterated sweetness of the tomatoes, lemons and onions here. Nothing in the US compares.     Excited by all the amazing tastes and flavors, my husband and I always try to eat three meals here and usually end up feeling stuffed and uncomfortable. We are the Americans overdoing it, lol!   The waiters that know us in our favorite Capri restaurants now stop us, saying, “Just get this; otherwise, too much food!”     The food is made without preservatives too, so you buy only what you are going to eat today and the next.   There is value in taking advantage of the present and having the best and doing the best in the moment. Even when the Italians are frustrated by something, they pride themselves on having heart and being gracious. It’s their beautiful way.     They invest in quality and spend their money buying high-quality furniture, sheets and clothing that lasts. While they may only have a few pieces in their closet, they are beautifully made.   Quality versus Quantity.   At the start of the new year, I cleaned out my closets and got rid of 6 huge big trash bags of clothing; I am ashamed to say, quite a few pieces never worn, with tags still on them. One of the images in my Vision Board was a sparse and well-organized closet. Having less and choosing what I have with care is how I want to live.   As I enjoy our last days in Italy, I am pondering how to do less and enjoy more.   How to buy less, hold onto less and enjoy people, places and things more often???   How can you take time out and savor something you enjoy today?  Make the choice to do less and enjoy something, an interaction, a coffee, a view even more?     Carp Diem! Short on Time? How to Instantly Create More ;)

Short on Time? How to Instantly Create More ;)

Tis a busy season for a lot of you with graduations, end of school year events, weddings, prepping summer homes and getting ready for your own vacations. Find yourself revved into a stress stage just pre-planning everything you need to do? Putting too much pressure on yourself to get too much done in too little time? Feeling afraid you won’t have enough time? I created this super quick and easy Tapping for Time exercise to help calm both you and me down when we have lengthy to-do lists with impending time pressures. It’s helped me get more done in less time! While time is finite, we can expand our experience of it. Anxiety and worry have a tendency to make everything more difficult. When you are stressed your mental capacity is hindered because your primal response is to send energy and resources to your limbs to power your fight or flight. Tapping these meridian points from The Chinese Acupuncture System helps your body calm down. Since there probably isn’t a lion, tiger or bear chasing you, it would be best to calm your body’s innate response, so you can send blood and oxygen back to your brain, improve your cognitive function, think more clearly, and solve problems faster. The more brain power you have, the more effective you can be. The more effective you are, the less time you need! Voila! You have just created more time! Who’s better than you? Rate your stress level before and after you do this, then do something fun with the extra time you create!!! To having it all with greater ease and grace;) Speaking of vacations and having it all … Join me at Soul Camp this year!!!  I will be at both East and West this year! I had such a fun, rewarding and rejuvenating experience last year, I am doing both! Great way to have it all …a soul expanding and fun filled vacation! Click here to come with me;)   Lara...
