Peace

Peace

With the intensity of the energies we’ve been navigating, change of season and just managing all that is going on, this has been my mantra of late. And, this is so uncharacteristic for me. I take pride in being a doer, and usually feel best when I am getting shit done, but lately, I have just wanted to take peace. This kind of thing always blows my mind. I happened to find a piece of paper I saved from Soul Camp this summer. It had the word written on it that was supposedly “my answer” to having what I intended at Soul Camp this year. In the first night there is a cool fire burning ceremony in which you set an intention for what you want to get out of the weekend, then you partner up with someone, and they hand you this piece of paper with what will help you or be access to you having what you want. And, this is blind, without you having shared your goal with them. Guess what mine said? !!!!!!!! Yup! Peace. It made total sense at the time because my goal was a greater work/life balance. But, little did I know what it would ultimately feel like and what else I would get from it. Soul Camp did it again, I always go to teach, but wind up learning so much for months after. Who knew taking peace … ~laying in bed thinking would yield such clarity and creativity. ~spending time with my husband doing nothing would strengthen our bond. ~laying down on the couch in my office versus doing work when I got a cancellation this week would help me be clear on something I want. Knowing what you want takes time. With so much to do, I challenge you to take a break from it all and … Take Peace. Find just a few minutes and some space to do it today. And, if you would like to get away and come to an incredibly peaceful place, Soul Camp West is just a week and a half away. And, you can still get cheap tickets to Fresno. Sorry East, but West is my favorite Soul Camp. Wonder Valley truly lives up to its name. Its natural beauty is wondrous, and the experience is wonderful with nicer accommodations and delicious food! It’s an amazing place to Take Peace, have some “A-Ha’s” and make meaningful lifetime connections. Here’s a link with my special discount;) Email me when you sign up, so we can meet up there;) Much love and peace,...

How I found Peace and Connection last week…

How I found Peace and Connection last week…

Last week the energy in the air just felt heavy. It feels like the world is being shaken up, and negativity that has been there is being released. Terror in Las Vegas. Choas in Spain. Now add London to the list. It feels like we are being invited to grow and to elevate our consciousness once again. Yet, it can be tough to be positive when we are faced every day with so much negativity and fear of the future’s unknown. Last Monday I woke up feeling disturbed, found out about the shooting in Vegas, and felt drawn to take my dog for a walk by the river to try to find some peace and perspective. As we walked through the city on our way to the water, I was just getting more and more agitated. The peace I felt with fewer people out on weekend mornings wasn’t there, and everyone was anxiously and frenetically scurrying about. When I finally got to the river, I felt compelled to walk over to the railing and stand on the edge of the pier to be closer to the water. As I looked down and watched and listened to the water hit into the rocks, I involuntarily took a huge breath, then a sigh of relief. Quiet tears came down my face, I felt touched, emotionally moved and grateful to feel connected again. I stood there staring at the water, trying to breathe in this powerful moment of oneness so it wouldn’t slip away. After disturbing events, I often find many of my clients coming in with Root Chakra imbalances. Your Root Chakra is responsible for your sense of safety and security. Natural that it should feel rocked after this past week. The reality is, bad things can happen, you can’t control what happens in the world, but connection to a power greater than yourself, often found in nature, can help you feel comforted and safe. It does not matter what you call that higher power- Consciousness, Source, Mother Nature, God, or Spirit. Connection to universal energy can bring you a sense of peace and stability. The animals in the forest have no idea if and when they will find food each day, yet somehow they trust in nature to provide for them. While there was chaos in Vegas, I was able to feel peace at the river. While there was an attack in London, there were children playing in the park. I walked home that morning at ease and peaceful, and I smiled at several people along the way hoping I could share this feeling. We are One With All That Is, and that truth is present in science, as we are made of the same molecular stuff found on the earth. We can affect each other energetically and emotionally. So I invite you to allow the Universe to touch, to inspire and to love you. The world is in the middle of upsetting times that are creating change. It is upset that spurs growth and progress. While progress is in process, it is important to find your grounding and your strength in a power greater than yourself and to find habitual ways through which you can connect to it. So, how can you connect? Here’s a start– Play this short...

Finding Strength and Peace after Terrorism

Finding Strength and Peace after Terrorism

Got this message yesterday … Dear Lara, I’m always thankful for this post when days like today happen: http://www.thelaratouch.com/helping-find-strength-peace-aftermath-terrorism-2/ Thank you 💕 So, I thought I would send the exercises from this post to you again. Terrorism is scary, and it’s natural to feel affected by it. I made this video after the disturbing attack in Paris, and the exercises in it are still providing comfort today. In my work with trauma survivors, whether it is childhood trauma or more recent, I helped my clients utilize 3 steps to find their strength in the face of traumatic memories or feelings. They are outlined with examples in the video below. Video 1 And, here is a stress relief tapping sequence to help you calm down and get present to your current, safe reality, your personal power and your connection to the Divine. Video 2 I had three friends who avoided 9/11 despite the fact that they worked in the Twin Towers. All three were unusually diverted from being at work on time that morning. As a result, they luckily and miraculously were spared. After you do the exercise above, please ask angels to help the wounded and the families and friends of the victims to heal in Las Vegas. And get into the habit of asking your angels for guidance and protection every day before you leave your home. I believe good luck has a lot to do with Divine connection and intervention. Much peace and connection,...

Some days are easier than others.

Some days are easier than others.

Right now it seems as if many of us are feeling the ups and downs of change. Many of my clients have been coming in this week in a Fight or Flight Stress Reaction in reaction to the media or life upheaval from change in their own lives. Even positive change is stressful. Any movement away from your norm is usually stressful. Please take time today or this weekend to do this quick  exercise and calm your body down, so you can fully rest. You may need more rest right now, and I am giving you permission and an invitation to take it. Please think about what you need this weekend and do something to nourish yourself. ~ If you feel tired, rest. ~ If you’re feeling overwhelmed by the news of the day, unplug, watch a frivolous movie instead! ~ If you are are feeling inspired, take gentle action, talk to someone about it or just research something about it online. This weekend, nourish yourself and do something to restore your energy. Much love and peace,...

Your Male and Female Parts In Conflict?

Your Male and Female Parts In Conflict?

There is a fight for power and energy happening between Yin (Female Oriented) and Yang (Male Oriented) Meridians of late.  I have been seeing this imbalance in just about everyone that has been coming in for sessions. The Yins, the meridians that motivate all your life-sustaining functions, like your heart, kidneys, and liver, are showing up depleted because the Yang Meridians are exerting so much energy to power action and forward motion. There is a conflict between nurturing yourself and managing all that is coming your way and all you want to achieve. The recent retrograde, solar eclipse and hurricanes have caused a friction or static that has put a lot of people’s central nervous systems on a stress alert. It’s like there is a background noise that is annoying you, but you don’t realize it was affecting you until it stops. Then, you are like, Ahhhhh, peace again. While, this time of year, end of summer/back to school, is bringing pressures to get more done as well as to be out enjoying the weather while it lasts. Keep going, going, going, and your energy may go gone. Try this exercise to help find peace again from these environmental disturbances, and for some suggestions on how to nourish yourself and your energies as you do the things you want to do. It may seem counterintuitive, but stopping to refuel your energy tank, while it may take a little time away from what you are doing, may make you more effective doing it. When you are more effective, everything takes less time;) Cheers to getting more done with greater ease and in less...

Back to Reality- How to Support Yourself as We Transition From Summer Into Fall

You are back to life; back to reality. Remember that song by Soul II Soul??? “Back to life, back to reality, back to the here and now yeah Show me how, decide what you want from me, tell me maybe I could be there for you.” What if this was your life talking to you??? What if you could bring some Summer into your normal life’s reality? This Summer you got to have more fun, go on vacation, see more of family and friends, treat yourself to ice cream and to enjoy being outside in nature. In The Chinese System, Summer is the time to reap what you have sowed and to enjoy the harvest. You worked hard all year, so you could celebrate your success and take some time off. And, now it’s time to “get back to work.” There is a lot to do before the end of the year. Remember all your resolutions and goals, yikes!!!!! Ugh!!! How will you get it done? Bring up anxiety? And, it’s getting darker earlier. What a freakin buzz kill!!!! But, it doesn’t have to be! You can bring some of that Summer fun into your real life. Don’t just roll back into your old patterns, when you have this chance to upgrade. Just stop and join me in this quick transition ritual now. I want you to take this moment to break for what you want! “However do you want me,” your life? It’s important to stop, feel and to listen to your heart’s desires. Life can’t be all summer moments, but it can certainly have more;) And, feeling the warmth and glow of those moments can give you the energy and the inspiration you need to get you through fall and winter;) So much love and joy!...

Yo! We Going Retro!!!!

Yo! We Going Retro!!!!

This past week, I slipped into an old pattern that I thought I had overcome and paid the price. Several of my clients also slipped backward this week. It was like The Universe was sending lessons, a final reminder to not look back and to continue to move forward no matter how comfortable the old ways may have been in the past, they are now NOT working! And, then I looked at the calendar and guess what happened yesterday?! Mercury went retro! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we are in another retrograde, but you may have already been feeling the pre-phases of it like us. The pre-shadow began two weeks ago. I’ve been enjoying taking out more time to take care of myself and enjoy my family and friends. Then, last week, my husband was away, and I used this as an excuse to fall back into my old pattern and overbook myself. I was exhausted, had no time to work out or tidy my apt. My back and neck seized up, and I got really short tempered with my well-meaning brother on the phone one night. My body and temper were telling me, “Enough of this already, I just don’t want to live this way anymore! Don’t go backward!” The contrast between where I have been of late, more satisfied with better work/life balance and where I was a year ago, in overwork mode, was too dramatic. This was a warning not to go back and to take the time to make choices that support how I want to live in greater balance now. If you have been feeling some old, outgrown feeling or pattern come up of late, you are not alone, and it could be The Universe’s way of nudging you forward. Mercury is Retrograde August 13-Sept 5th with the post shadow lasting through Sept 19th. So, the way I see it, you/ we have approximately five weeks to utilize this powerful time to shed old patterns and upgrade your experience of your life. Be aware of what you are feeling during this time, and ask yourself what your body or life circumstances are trying to tell you- Are your actions and choices in alignment with what you really want? Check in, and make sure your body feels good with your choices with no constriction of your throat or gut. If your throat feels tight, this may be your body’s way of telling you that you may not be expressing something important. If your stomach or gut is constricted, you may not be honoring something you want by making this decision. See if you can connect your head with your body and your heart and be more conscious of just what you are choosing for yourself and your future in each moment. Because you can have more of what you want in your life, you just need to stay focused on having it;) Cheers to having a life you love! Lara...

Holy Allergies! How to Better Control the 4 Factors that Affect Your Health, Energy and and Well Being

Holy Allergies! How to Better Control the 4 Factors that Affect Your Health, Energy and and Well Being

I was so tired a week ago. It was super humid in NY, and I felt totally wiped out, and the cough I had from my pollen allergy was activated again!!!! Ugh!  I thought I had beat it. I had been taking my supplements, and it had gotten better, virtually disappeared, so what happened? And, why are some of my clients suffering from allergies and others, not at all? Some of it is predisposition, and some of it is the cumulation of many different stress factors. See, what I didn’t tell you is that I moved apartments the weekend before. We moved to an apt with a better lay out and view in our building, a great move, but a move non-the-less. Despite the fact that we hired movers,  it was complete with lots of bending over, lifting things, inhaling dust, eating fast food and the emotional stress of feeling unsettled and not knowing where anything was for a few days. Allergies, just like viruses, tend to affect you more If your body is already taxed by unperceived stressors. You just get more watery eyes or an itchy throat like me, or if you were exposed to a virus, a cold if your body’s resistance is down. And, your body’s resistance might be down because you were just living your life a bit too intensely. You may not connect the fact that your body was tired because it was trying to heal after you went all out in a boxing class and were sore afterward, then ate pesticides on the salad you had out with a friend, got some stressful news at work and had trouble getting to sleep. These are all natural things that happen in your modern day life, and if your body encountered just one of those stressors, your immune system could probably have beat the cold or not had as intense of an allergic reaction, but the combo had your body working overtime and weakened your defense. How much mechanical, chemical, environmental and emotional stress you encounter and how your body handles it determines whether you feel itchy, tired or get sick. If I had rested more and put off some of the unpacking, I probably wouldn’t have felt so wiped. In your modern day life,  mechanical stress generally comes in the form of activity that is outside of your normal scope, like my unpacking. When you do an activity you are not used to doing, if you do it for too long a period or too vigorously you can make yourself sore and injure tissue. If you are sore after exercise, you have actually injured tissue and started an immune response.  You have created tiny little tears in your muscles, which your body has to take energy and time to heal.  So it is important to exercise at a pace, and an intensity your body can handle.  You know you have done too much if you feel tired or sore after your workout. Eating chemicals like pesticides on veggies, hormones in meats and mercury in fish taxes your digestive and immune systems because it takes extra energy for your body to remove those toxins from your system. The food we ordered in probably had a combo of all these. And, emotional stress puts you...
