I have been so relaxed, then these waves of anxiety got me last week accompanied by really dramatic and unrealistic fears that did not make sense. It was so strange. I was perplexed. Then, I found a letter I had written to myself last summer at Soul Camp. Each year, they have you write a letter to yourself and share some wisdom you gained there and don’t want to forget. My letter was urging me to take the time to receive the goodnesses in life more and to do more of the things that fill me up, like the yoga, massages and connecting with quality friends that I soooo enjoyed doing at Soul Camp. I was touched to tears reading this because I have been following those directives and carving out space to take better care of myself, that is why I think I felt this crazy anxiety! Bam! Boomerang Effect! It was like my central nervous system’s knee jerk reaction, saying, “Wait! Are you sure it’s totally safe to relax and to enjoy yourself so much? She was totally exhausted when she got into her UBUR, and the very nice driver started to chit chat. She was overwhelmed with a lot on her mind, and the last thing she wanted to do was make conversation, but she chatted anyway. She didn’t want to be rude or obnoxious to this nice man, but by the time she got home, she was done. And, she proceeded to yell at her daughter when making a simple request was more appropriate. She felt terrible and apologised saying she had just had an intense day and needed a time out. When her daughter came over and gave her a big hug, she was touched to tears. Love makes things better. So where’s the love for yourself? One of my clients was sharing the worry that she was a bad mother, as she told me this story. “On the contrary,” I said. “You just taught your daughter a lot in that exchange.  How to be honest about your feelings, how to apologize, how it’s ok to take timeouts, so you don’t blow your stack (lol). How Depression and Sheryl Sandburg Gave Me Joy!

I rarely get depressed these days, but I found myself feeling that way off and on last week. It felt like the Universe was working against everything I was trying to accomplish. And I had no drive or energy to push. I would feel better after doing energy work, then wake up the next day feeling like I had to pull myself out of the muck again. Since Mercury is retrograde, I figured it was better use of my energy to surrender my expectations, take pressure off, postpone my new website launch and focus on taking care of myself, doing the things that bring me joy instead. Knowing like attracts like, I knew if I was able to change my mood, it would effect my results. I felt better and had a HUGE epiphany! Why not make these joy producing activities priority? Life is too short! Life really can be too short. Beware of This Energy!

There is an energy brewing of which you need to be aware! I was saddened this past week to see a beautiful dogwood tree blooming one day and frozen the next; it’s flowers dying in the cold:( And there has been a running theme of overwhelm, frustration and fatigue in my clients coming in for sessions. I don’t want you to get sick or burnt out. Case in point: One of my clients came in last week pissed off, tired and bummed. She got on a health kick because her doctor discovered several months ago that she had high blood pressure. Her doc wanted her to go on medication but agreed to let her have a few months to change her diet, loose some weight and then re-do her blood work to see if she could bring her numbers down. After getting on a healthy eating plan, working out regularly and losing 40 (!) pounds, overall her blood pressure did go down, but her doctor was still concerned because her readings spiked occasionally. Since he doesn’t have an explanation for it, he is still suggesting medication. My client felt defeated. Despite all her effort and results, she hadn’t conquered this, and she felt tired from expending all of this...

Anyone else feel worn out and frustrated by this weather? One day it’s 60, the next it’s snowing and 20 degrees! Spring is around the corner, but winter persists! Rather than get frustrated, and rage against it, I invite you to use it as an opportunity to relax and to give yourself time to figure out what you want and to ponder “What would be the easiest, most fulfilling way to plan it?” You are used to pushing yourself to get things done, and while that can be productive, it can also wear you out if you do it all the time. Spring, bringing with it the energy of change and growth will be here soon. If you are feeling pressured to get things done or to make things happen (Now!) then you are already feeling Spring’s energy.
